The electrical resistivity is one of the most fundamental probes in condensed matter physics. Yet, computing the resistivity in systems of strongly correlated electrons remains a formidable challenge. This project deals with the resistivity of doped Mott insulators. Motivated by recent cold-atom simulations, we try to understand the bad-metal behavior at high temperatures and compute the resistivity in dynamical mean-field theory with vertex corrections.
We offer internships and fully funded PhD theses at the University of Cologne. Its Institute for Theoretical Physics enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide. Plus, Cologne offers a very high quality of life and is only 3.5h by train from Paris.
